It’s Actually Pretty Easy Being Green

I can see the hate mail coming in now…

Sorry for invalidating your experiences, Kermit, but I’ve been trying to work more color into my wardrobe. I don’t own many green garments but it’s my favorite color, so I took a chance on this dress from Eloquii.

I think this might be the first time I’ve ever shopped at Eloquii. Most of the things I’ve seen on their site in the past are a little… dressy… for me. I’m not a very formal gal. I don’t have to dress up for work, so unless I go to an event, I only get dressed up for date night.

This dress is their Tie Neck Midi Dress. The color is called Pine Trail. It also comes in deep sapphire, black, and two floral prints. Of course I was tempted to get it in black, but I was really drawn to this color. I wear about an 18 on top and 22 on bottom. I bought this dress in a 20 and it fits great!

This is a lightweight, A-line dress. It’s a polyester/spandex blend but isn’t stiflingly hot. What really drew me to the dress other than the color was the pussy bow at the neck. I love this detail. I have big arms and sometimes have a problem with long sleeves fitting me, even on supposedly “plus size” clothing. (I’m looking at you, Forever 21.) The sleeves on this dress fit me perfectly, both in length and in width.

I wore this with some of my favorite old textured tights, and some new leopard booties. Santa brought me these boots for Christmas, and I’m pretty sure they are from Lane Bryant. They are VERY tight at the ankle for a supposedly wide width shoe. They probably got bad reviews from other chubby-ankled people because they’re gone from the site. I carried a Wild Fable bag from Target. And I wore my favorite Christmas present, this rose gold hedgehog ring from independent jewelry designer Michael Tatom. I’ll be writing a blog post about this ring in the near future.

I also wore some new plugs I got for Christmas because they matched my dress so perfectly! These are Nephrite jade from Oracle Body Jewelry. You can’t see the plugs I’m wearing in my conches very well, but they are single flared ruby red glass from Gorilla Glass. They look black in all of my pictures but they’re bright red in real life.

I wore this to go to Christmas dinner, so I paired it with this red velvet jacket that I picked up for $12 over the summer at Nordstrom Rack. What a bargain! I took the opportunity to wear red and green together, since Christmas is pretty much the only time I would feel comfortable wearing this color combination. I really like the way this outfit turned out! I felt festive in my own special way.
