I took a brief blogging hiatus this last week to unwind from the Christmas festivities, and to take time to reflect on 2018. I went through my Instagram (follow me!) and chose a photo from every month of this past year that highlights something cool that I did, made, or ate.
Last Friday I went to Longwood Gardens by myself for a quiet afternoon. The outdoor gardens were pretty crowded when I got there, but once the rain started, the people disappeared. The forecast hadn’t called for rain, but luckily I had my umbrella.
I started out in the Garden Walk. Usually I feel rushed because the walkway is so narrow. It was quite peaceful and pleasant with no other people!
Pocono Snake and Animal Farm is a family-run animal sanctuary that has been open since the early 1970’s. They don’t rehabilitate animals, but they give a home to critters great and small that can no longer be taken care of by their original owners. It has a very DIY atmosphere.
My second favorite critter to visit here is the SNAKE THAT KILLED A GUY. YES, I said SNAKE THAT KILLED A GUY.
In October my Sweetie took me to The Lodge at Woodloch for my birthday! We’re going back in a couple of weeks, so I figured I’d finally get around to sharing my experience from our first trip.
One of my FAVORITE places to visit since I moved to the Philadelphia area is Longwood Gardens!
It’s like a zoo for plants!
The orchids were stunning, of course. I got to see the internet-famous rare Ophrys tenthredinifera, or sawfly orchid, pictured below.
