I visited central New Mexico in March and most of the souvenirs I ended up bringing home were rocks and minerals!Continue reading “I Went to the Desert & All I Bought Was ROCKS”
Last month I spent a week in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, visiting family. T or C (as the locals call it) is known for their natural hot springs. They have a bathhouse district with ten different spas where you can pay for to soak. I challenged myself to visit five different spas while I was in town.
My first soak of the week was at La Paloma Too on Austin, in the Hot Spring District.Continue reading “La Paloma Hot Springs, Truth or Consequences, NM”
In October of 2017, my mom and I took a road trip through central New Mexico. The third stop on our road trip was Alamogordo, New Mexico.
No road trip is complete without seeing the world’s largest something. In central New Mexico, the large attraction that you can’t miss is the world’s largest pistachio at PitsachioLand.
This enormous nut is not-to-be-missed. Like, you literally cannot miss it. It’s surrounded by pistachio trees and grapevine fields, with nothing else in the vicinity except for the gift shop.Continue reading “Alamogordo, NM: a Big Nut & a Dead Chimp”
In October of 2017 my mom and I took a road trip through central New Mexico. Our main destination was Roswell, New Mexico, home of the infamous UFO incident on 1947.
I’ve been reading about Roswell and the UFO incident since I was a child. I was often drawn to the strange, esoteric, and extraterrestrial. This was a destination I always wanted to visit but never thought I’d get the chance. I never traveled very often, and New Mexico just wasn’t in the plans.
Then my mom moved to New Mexico in 2016. She had lived in the state for over a year before but had never ventured this far east. Our trip gave her a chance to explore her new state. How lucky for me!
Here’ what we saw:Continue reading “Roswell, NM: a Trip to Alien Country”
I’m going to visit my family in New Mexico in March and I’m starting early with my outfit planning. Forever 21 had a buy one get one free sale on their clearance items a few weeks ago, so I picked up two great tops that will be perfect for my trip to the desert!Continue reading “2 Outfits for My Trip to the Desert”
In October of 2017 my mom and I took a road trip through central New Mexico. The first leg of our trip took us down Route 70, where we stopped at Fox Cave to break up the trip to Roswell.
Fox Cave isn’t a cave that you tour like Carlsbad Caverns. The actual cave is in the gift shop. It’s educational, but not slick like a modern museum.
That doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth a visit. In my opinion, this place is New Mexico’s best tourist trap.Continue reading “Fox Cave: New Mexico’s Best Tourist Trap”
This is a cute little scrapbook that I made after my mom and I took a 4-day road trip in New Mexico in 2017. I’m planning another trip out to visit her in March so I’m reminiscing about my first New Mexico experience.
All of the images that I used in my scrapbook are photos printed from my phone, instant photos from my Instax mini, or clippings from papers I picked up along my way. When I’m travelling I tend to accumulate a bunch of paper ephemera: brochures, flyers, postcards, maps, informational handouts, admission tickets, wrist bands, even stickers. At the end of every day on a trip I transfer any paper that I’ve picked up throughout the day into my suitcase. When I get home, I go through them and keep anything that’s interesting or important. This project was a great way to display the things that I wanted to remember and not have to hang on to a bunch of extra stuff!
Here’s how I put it together:Continue reading “New Mexico Road Trip Mini Scrapbook”
Great news: I’m planning a trip to New Mexico to visit my family in March! I just booked my flight last week. This will be my second trip to New Mexico.Continue reading “Trip to New Mexico”
On a rare foggy & 50 degree January day, I went to Longwood Gardens. I have a membership to the gardens so I like to go as often as possible. When I arrived, I was disappointed to see that the Conservatory was closed. This ended up challenging me to visit more of the gardens, and I saw a few things that I had never seen before!Continue reading “(Another) Gray Day at Longwood Gardens”
I took a brief blogging hiatus this last week to unwind from the Christmas festivities, and to take time to reflect on 2018. I went through my Instagram (follow me!) and chose a photo from every month of this past year that highlights something cool that I did, made, or ate.
